Our Beginnings
Thermal Overwatch was forged by two soldiers who’ve seen what heat does to the human body when the mission doesn’t stop and the sun doesn’t quit. Keller and Josh came from different corners of the Army, but shared the same frustration: Why are we still treating heat injuries with outdated gear? They crossed paths at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business, where field experience turned into shared vision.
What started as a conversation between veterans became Thermal Overwatch; a company built to modernize how we fight heat. The science is proven. The protocol works. But the tools? They hadn’t kept up. So we built gear that does just that. No gimmicks. Just smarter, faster cooling for the people who can’t afford to go down.
The Founders

A former Army logistics officer and West Point graduate, Keller led sustainment operations across some of the military’s harshest environments. With a deep understanding of how to move critical resources where they’re needed most, he brings unmatched logistical expertise to Thermal Overwatch. Now earning his MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, Keller remains mission-focused: ensuring those on the front lines, military or athletic, have what they need, when they need it.
Josh is a former Army Special Forces Medical Sergeant (18D) with over a decade of experience treating casualties in high-stakes, high-heat environments. From combat zones to remote training ranges, he’s seen firsthand how fast heat injuries can take someone out, and how critical effective treatment is. Now pursuing his MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, Josh brings deep operational insight to Thermal Overwatch. His focus: making sure life-saving tools are built for the realities of the field, not just the textbook.
